Staff policy
Staff policy of Western Baltija Shipbuilding is directed towards team welfare and improvement. Employees are ensured with transparent system of wages, much attention is paid to occupational safety and health, professional development, trainings and cultural activities.
Western Baltija Shipbuilding promotes its best employees. Every month the best brigade is selected and the best employees are promoted with monetary bonuses. Administrative staff promoted for its good work results by directors is unforgettable too.
Ideas of active sports are proceeded in the “Western Shipyard” group companies. Every year “Western Shipyard” organizes an internal sports contest for the group of companies, where employees compete in basketball, football, darts, tennis, shooting and volleyball competitions.
Much attention is paid to different festivals, staff gatherings and trips.

Improvement
Western Baltija Shipbuilding is a permanently learning, growing and improving company. The newest technologies and programs are installed in the organization, and current trainings of necessary courses ensure staff’s excellent preparation for the work.
The company constantly invites hull assemblers, pipeliners, and welders to work. Company’s potential employees are students finished studies of engineering-technical course.
“Western Shipyard” in cooperation with Klaipeda Ship Repair and Building School (“Klaipėdos laivų statybos ir remonto mokykla”) has started to prepare a group of ship hull assemblers, where the employees are trainees finished the courses and passed the practice in Western Baltija Shipbuilding join the company’s team. The company cooperates with the vocational school for many years and every year accepts its students and trainees for professional practice.
Due to cooperation with the Engineering Industries Association of Lithuania (LINPRA), Western Shipyard group of companies was able to get financing for its employees professional development. At the expense of the received funds in cooperation with international organizations, trainings in the fields of shipbuilding, ship repair and production of offshore contraction.

Occupational safety and health
One of the company’s main priorities is to ensure occupational safety and health. The company constantly carries out environmental and working conditions evaluation, discusses urgent questions related to health or safety. In order to ensure occupational safety and health for its employees, the company has created the set of means – from instructions for safe operation to safe work places and health check.
In April, 2011, Western Baltija Shipbuilding was certified according to the standard of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System OHSAS 18001:2007. The installation of this system allows systematically including employees to the continuous improvement activities of occupational safety and health and ensuring appropriate working conditions.

Social activities
The company participates in the social activities and enters into social projects. Every year in May, it is declared as “an open door” month. Pupils of secondary schools and students of high schools of Klaipeda city and district get acquainted with the processes of shipbuilding, ship repair and company’s other activities. For several years, the company participates in the project of Young colleagues. During this project, pupils visit the company, get acquainted with its activity and ask the company’s employees the questions.
